A group of school girls from Yorkshire made friendship bracelets for the children in the Watoto village in Uganda. Inspired by the Urban Angels message to do small acts of kindness for other people, the girls spent lunch and play times handmaking the thread bracelets to give to the children they had never met. A team from the Abundant Life Church had the pleasure of giving them out to the children who were thrilled to recieve the thoughtful gifts and proudly tied them onto their wrists (pictured). Well done girls, we are very proud of you for taking the time out to be so kind.

Watoto Christmas Party
Wednesday, December 8th, 2010On Tuesday the 30th of November the snow fell thick and fast as most people camped out at home or in their vehicle, as the worst of the snow flurries blew across the UK. We received a phone call telling us that the Watoto Restore tour kids had got stranded in the snow on the way to Perth in Scotland, they had journeyed for almost 20 hours through Scotland only to find concerts were cancelled and they needed a place to go for a few days out of the crazy weather. They came to us for those few days and how could we not but seize this opportunity to turn bad weather and diversion into an amazing day of winter wonderland surprises for these incredible kids.
In Galatians 6 it says that ‘we should not grow weary in doing good’. That seems a strange combination to put together. Weariness and goodness, you would expect maybe don’t get weary in worry or stress but here it asks that we don’t get weary in doing good. That is because choosing to do good means choosing to be tired, it is an act of selflessness, of giving out of your own life, resource and time, with only one motivation that of blessing others.
Throughout the year we have encouraged you to be an Urban Angel, a person who chooses to be an agent of change through acts of goodness and kindness. And as the year ends I want to applaud all those who have ventured out beyond their comfort zone into the world around them, to be someone who gives, serves and loves others and makes a difference. I know as a team we have had a year of doing good at a whole new level and with that we have wearied ourselves at a whole new level too! But as this season approaches we are spurred on all the more to keep doing good. The phone call triggered us all over again to weary ourselves and create some amazing memories
So please watch this little video below as we show you how we surprised the kids with a Christmas party. They had never had a Christmas party or Christmas dinner! We had games, presents, carols and sledging and snowball fights. It was a day they and we will never forget, but as you watch it also remind yourself that at the other side of your weariness is a harvest of amazing gratitude and life changing moments, as this little video shows. So let it spur you on to keep going, keep giving for Galatians 6 also reminds us if we do not quit at the proper time we will reap a harvest!
Can you help us help more people over Christmas? If you would like to donate to our ‘Christmas Kisses’ and to the ‘Big Give’ them please make a donation online today. Love to you and yours,
Charl

Fashion Show Highlights 2010
Monday, December 6th, 2010We are pleased to report that a staggering £13,000 was raised through the selling of clothes, raffle tickets and donations from the recent fashion show.
If you weren’t able to make it to the night itself, have a look at the highlights above and see what you were a part of making happen!
The money raised has now gone to the incredible charities we support and in a time where so many people are focussing on the negative economic climate, this just proves that people can come together and do something amazing for those less fortunate. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you – for being part of making this possible. We really do value and appreciate your partnering with us to make this happen.
