Urban Angels Host Ball
Four Urban Angels in Northern Ireland raised a massive £5500 by organising and hosting a dinner dance earlier this year.
Over 300 local people came to an event held at the Le Mon Hotel organised by Natalie and Roxanne Clarke and Kelly and Bethany McKenzie. The girls, who pulled off the entire event in just six weeks were motivated to raise money for the upcoming Watoto trip and the earthquake victims in Haiti.
The glamorous Black-Tie evening, hosted by local celebrity Linda Bryans consisted of a Champagne reception, four course dinner, acharity auction and a disco and was even featured in the Irish versionof OK – the In Magazine.
Natalie Clarke added “We had so much donated for the auction – from restaurant vouchers, a Turkish holiday, beauticians and hair appointments, to jewellery and tickets to see the Lighthouse Family. We were all overwhelmed with the support.”
The event coincided with Red Hand Day – a day to remember the plightof some 250,000 child soldiers forced to fight. Natalie said, “I went to Watoto last year on the trip with ALC, and having committed with Roxanne to go again this year, we wanted to do something in our own community to help raise awareness and money. This seemed like a practical way to do that, and we loved it so much, we are planning to do another one at a later date!”
Well, Urban Angels, we salute you! Doesn’t it show you what a group of passionate women can do when they put their mind to it!
